The SDI Visual Inspection Procedures Course at OCD Divers is a non‑diving program designed to train individuals in the proper techniques for visually inspecting high‑pressure cylinders. This course teaches the standards, tools, and procedures required to perform annual inspections, recognize damage, and determine whether a cylinder is safe for continued service. Graduates are qualified to conduct visual inspections in accordance with industry guidelines.
What You’ll Learn
This course follows SDI standards and covers the full process of cylinder inspection and documentation:
- Cylinder design and manufacturing: Understanding steel, aluminum, and composite cylinder construction.
- Regulations and standards: Overview of inspection requirements, markings, and legal responsibilities.
- Inspection tools and setup: Proper use of lights, probes, mirrors, and gauges.
- External inspection: Identifying corrosion, dents, bulges, thread damage, and environmental wear.
- Internal inspection: Recognizing rust, pitting, contaminants, and structural defects.

Program Overview
The Visual Inspection Procedures Course is taught entirely at OCD Divers and includes classroom instruction and hands‑on practice with real cylinders and inspection tools. Students will perform full mock inspections, complete documentation, and learn how to identify cylinders that require further testing or removal from service.
Prerequisites: Minimum age 18. No diving certification required.

This is a non‑diving specialty taught entirely at OCD Divers in Colleyville. All tools, cylinders, and training materials are supplied for hands‑on practice.
