Texas Lone Star State Diver: The Exclusive Texas Dive Road Trip 1-2 Aug 2026
Texas divers are everywhere, but only a handful ever see the state the obsessive way — lake by lake, mile by mile, sunrise to sunset. The Texas Lone Star State Diver Specialty is built for those few. It’s intentionally limited to no more than eight divers and designed as a fast‑paced, multi‑lake road trip across Texas. Four lakes. Two days. One obsessive dive adventure.
This isn’t just a specialty course. It’s a story you live. You’ll move from pine‑lined blue water to clay‑bottomed training parks to spring‑fed ranch lakes and finally into the clear, quiet depths of Wheeler Branch. Each site has its own personality, history, and underwater secrets — and you’ll experience them all in a single, unforgettable weekend. Complete it, and you’ll join a very small group of divers who have seen Texas underwater the way obsessive divers do.

Course Requirements
To complete the Texas Lone Star State Diver Specialty, you will:
- Complete one dive in four different Texas locations.
- Independently complete knowledge reviews for at least four dive sites using the appendix in the standards packet.
Minimum age: 10 years old.
Maximum group size: 8 divers.
This is an exclusive, small team experience designed for efficiency, safety, and fun.
Gear and Rental Options
You may bring your own gear or rent from us for the weekend:
- $30 daily – Mask, fins, snorkel, booties
- $10 daily – Wetsuit
- $50 daily – BCD, regulator, computer, SPG, compass
- $30 daily – Tank and weights (air fills not included)
- $30 daily – Primary, backup, and marker lights

These specialty courses integrate naturally into the Texas dive road trip. Add any of them for $30 off each when taken on the same weekend. Standards limit three training dives per day, so plan your combinations carefully.
- Computer Nitrox Diver – $189.99
Conducted lakeside at any stop. This course does not count toward your three dive daily limit. - Advanced Adventurer Diver – $289.99
Open to certified divers ages 10 and up. Includes the first dives of these specialties: Deep, Navigation, Texas Lone Star State Diver, and two electives (Advanced Buoyancy Control, River, or Night). Completing the full specialty later only requires the remaining dives and knowledge development. - Deep Diver – $219.99
Two dives at The Scuba Ranch. May be taken independently or combined with Advanced Adventurer. - Advanced Buoyancy Control Diver – $129.99
Two dives at The Scuba Ranch on Sunday morning. - Night Diver – $169.99
Two dives at The Scuba Ranch. Bring your own lights or rent for $29.99. - Underwater Navigator – $169.99

The Blue Lagoon – Saturday, 8:00 AM
A private, reservation only diver training lake with clear blue water, sandy beaches, and quiet pine surroundings. Underwater attractions include a school bus and training platforms. Amenities: rental gear, air and nitrox fills, covered pavilions.

Athens Scuba Park – Saturday, 1:00 PM
A diver only park with a full dive shop and dozens of submerged attractions, including an airplane. Stay off the clay bottom to keep visibility clear for the group. Amenities: gear sales and rentals, tank fills, restrooms, primitive camping.

A spring fed, 22 acre lake with natural habitat, underwater attractions, and the famous Sisco the Shark, the largest freshwater shark statue in North America. Amenities: air fills, gear rental, covered pavilion, primitive camping.

Wheeler Branch Park – Sunday, 2:00 PM
A public lake with multiple underwater attractions including helicopters, an airplane, a school bus, and a sailboat. Great visibility and a relaxed park atmosphere with fishing, swimming, and grilling nearby. Amenities: covered pavilions and restrooms.
