The OCD Divers Weekender Open Water Diver Course
Learn to scuba dive in Texas with a calm, predictable, lake‑based workflow. Our program follows the same required training standards as conventional open water certification in DFW but removes unnecessary transitions, creating a more direct path through the full certification process.
Why the Weekender Structure Is More Direct
Conventional open water certification programs in DFW involve repeated movement between the shop, the pool, and the lake. Those transitions add time and complexity but do not add training value. The Weekender keeps all required training while removing the redundant steps that create friction.
The standards, skills, and certification requirements remain identical. The difference is the workflow, not the training. You can learn more about our training philosophy on our About Us page.
Two Workflows. Same Standards. Different Logistics.
This comparison shows how the conventional two‑weekend workflow differs from the direct, lake‑based Weekender structure.

Both paths meet the same training standards — one simply removes the unnecessary transitions.
What Is Removed — and What Is Kept
All required training remains. Every skill, standard, and performance requirement is completed exactly as outlined by the certification agency.
What the Weekender removes are the transitions. No repeated shop visits between training days, no tank‑fill trips back to the shop, and no Monday/Tuesday post‑class gear chores.
Tank fills occur at the lake. Standard Weekender students use the lake’s onsite fills and never leave the lake to manage cylinders. With our Platinum package, all tank logistics for the weekend are handled for you. You can explore optional gear and tank packages here.
This creates a more direct path through the same required training.
