Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Do I need to know how to swim before starting the course?
Yes. To enroll in the Open Water Diver course, you must be able to swim 200 yards in any style and float or tread water for 10 minutes. This ensures you have the basic water skills needed to safely enjoy scuba training.

Q2: Do I need prior experience?
No! The course is designed for beginners ages 10 and up. You’ll learn step‑by‑step with our instructors in Colleyville, serving the Dallas–Fort Worth area.

Q3: How long does certification take?
The course includes about eight hours of eLearning you complete at home, followed by two in‑person days at the pool and lake on location. This flexible format makes it easy to fit into busy family and professional schedules.

Q4: What equipment is required?
We provide all essential scuba gear for training (regulators, BCDs, tanks, computers). You’ll only need personal items like a mask, fins, and snorkel—which we can help you select in our Colleyville shop.

Q5: Where are training dives held?
With our exclusive weekender program, training pool sessions and dives are scheduled at The Scuba Ranch (May–November) or Balmorhea State Park (December–April), allowing you to complete certification in just 1.5 days in person.

Q6: How can you do it in one weekend when other shops take so much longer?
By using on‑location pool facilities, we meet all course standards while eliminating drive time and transition time. This efficiency lets us focus entirely on skills development, enabling you to complete certification faster without compromising quality or safety.

Q7: Is the certification internationally recognized?
Yes! Your Open Water Diver certification is accepted worldwide, allowing you to dive at resorts, liveaboards, and destinations across the globe.
