DIVE EXPERIENCE LEADER
Program Overview
The SDI Dive Experience Leader program is designed for active SDI Assistant Instructors and Divemasters who want to advance their professional leadership skills. As a Dive Experience Leader, you will independently conduct Scuba Discovery programs in pool environments and gain real, hands‑on teaching experience with actual students—not simulations.
This pathway strengthens your instructional presence, builds confidence, and reinforces the obsessive safety and professionalism expected at OCD Divers.
- Who is this for? Active SDI Assistant Instructors and Divemasters (18+) seeking real‑world leadership experience.
- What you’ll do: Independently conduct Scuba Discovery programs in pools (Assistant Instructors may also use approved confined water sites).

Prerequisites
- Minimum age 18
- Active status SDI Assistant Instructor or Divemaster
- Professional liability insurance covering teaching activity (where required)
Course Structure & Requirements
This leadership‑level program emphasizes real‑world experience, professional judgment, and the ability to deliver safe, engaging Scuba Discovery sessions. All training is conducted in pool environments.
- Minimum 6 hours of training with real students
- Assist with at least 3 Scuba Discovery programs under instructor supervision
- Perform all administrative, briefing, and in‑water leadership tasks
- Demonstrate sound judgment in planning and execution
Each session is designed to build confidence, refine your leadership style, and reinforce the safety‑first culture that defines OCD Divers.
Required Equipment
- Standard open water equipment as outlined in SDI Leadership standards
- Any additional equipment required for Scuba Discovery programs
