Program Overview

• Who is this for? Active SDI Assistant Instructors and Divemasters (age 18+) looking to lead Scuba Discovery programs and gain real-world teaching experience.
• What you'll do: Independently conduct Scuba Discovery programs in pools (Assistant Instructors may also use approved confined water sites).

Prerequisites

• Minimum age: 18 years
• Active status SDI Assistant Instructor or Divemaster
• Professional liability insurance covering teaching activity (where required)

Course Structure & Requirements

• All training is conducted in swimming pools (no open water or non-pool confined water sites).
• Minimum 6 hours of training, with course assists performed with real students.
• Complete at least 3 Scuba Discovery programs under direct instructor supervision, including all administrative and in-water tasks.
• Demonstrate sound judgment in course planning and execution.

Required Equipment

• Standard open water equipment as specified in the SDI Leadership course standards
• Any additional equipment/materials required by the Scuba Discovery course

How to Get Started

• Contact OCD Divers to enroll and review upcoming Scuba Discovery course dates, as you'll be working with actual students during three different scheduled sessions.
