Program Overview
The Inactive Diver Refresh is ideal for divers who have not been diving recently, are preparing for a trip, or simply want to regain confidence before returning to open water. This is not a certification course, but a structured skills review led by an SDI professional.
Many divers take this program when they want to reactivate their scuba certification, refresh their skills before a vacation, or update training originally completed through SDI, PADI, SSI, NAUI, RAID, or another internationally recognized agency.
Prerequisites: Open Water (or higher) Diver certification from SDI, PADI, SSI, NAUI, PSS, or any other internationally recognized training agency.
Minimum age: 18, or 10 years old with parental consent.
Equipment needed: All scuba gear is provided for use during the program. Personal gear (mask, snorkel, boots, fins) is available for purchase if desired.
A short online eLearning module (1–2 hours) is included and sent automatically at sign‑up.
Where Training Takes Place
All refresher sessions begin in our heated Colleyville pool, serving divers from across DFW. Optional lake sessions may be offered for divers who want to practice skills in an open‑water environment.

What Comes Next
After completing the Inactive Diver Refresh, divers often continue with:
You can also complete your Enriched Air Nitrox certification at the same time — it adds only a few minutes to your in‑person session and about an hour of eLearning. If you’re a diver over 30, Nitrox is recommended. Over 40, it’s strongly recommended. Over 50, it’s almost essential for reducing fatigue and extending comfort and safety on repetitive dives.

Yes. Refreshers are universal. Skills and safety procedures are standardized across agencies, and your SDI eCard is accepted worldwide.
Going on vacation?
Most dive operators require a refresher or skills update if you haven’t logged a dive in the last year. Completing your refresher here means you won’t lose vacation time sitting in a classroom or pool.

How long does the session take?
Most refreshers take 90–120 minutes in the pool. Before your session, you’ll complete a short online eLearning module (1–2 hours), which we send automatically at sign‑up.
Will I receive proof of completion?
Yes. You will receive an SDI eCard showing that you completed the Inactive Diver Refresh.
What should I bring?
Swimwear, a towel, and any personal gear you want help adjusting. All scuba gear is provided.

Can I practice specific skills I’m worried about?

Can I get my Nitrox certification at the same time?

Do I need to “recertify” if it’s been a long time?
