What You’ll Learn

The SDI Master Scuba Diver rating recognizes divers who have achieved advanced training, broad experience, and strong capability across multiple diving environments. Earning this rating demonstrates dedication, confidence, and well‑rounded skill development.

Recognition as an experienced and well‑trained diver
Completion of four SDI specialty courses of your choice
Completion of the SDI Rescue Diver course
Documented experience with a minimum of fifty logged dives
Expanded comfort and capability in a variety of diving environments

Program Overview

The Master Scuba Diver rating is a recognition of achievement rather than a single course. Divers complete four SDI specialties, earn the SDI Rescue Diver certification, and log at least fifty dives demonstrating experience and proficiency.

Prerequisites: Minimum age 18 (or 10 with parental consent); SDI Advanced Adventure Diver or equivalent; SDI Rescue Diver certification; minimum of fifty logged dives.

Required gear: A complete scuba kit appropriate for the specialties you choose. This may include exposure protection, dive lights, reels, surface signaling devices, cutting tools, and other specialty‑specific equipment.
