Course Overview

The SDI Master Scuba Diver program is the highest nonprofessional rating in recreational diving. This achievement recognizes divers who have built strong experience, completed advanced training, and developed well rounded skills across multiple specialties. Earning the Master Scuba Diver rating demonstrates dedication, capability, and confidence in a wide range of diving environments.

What You Will Achieve

Recognition as an experienced and well trained diver
Completion of four SDI specialty courses of your choice
Completion of the SDI Rescue Diver course
Documented experience with a minimum of fifty logged dives
Expanded comfort and capability in a variety of diving environments

How the Program Works

Complete any four SDI specialty courses
Complete the SDI Rescue Diver course
Log at least fifty dives demonstrating experience and proficiency
Submit your completed training and dive history for certification

Prerequisites

Minimum age 18, 10 with parental consent
SDI Advanced Adventure Diver or equivalent
SDI Rescue Diver certification
Minimum of fifty logged dives

Required Gear

Divers working toward the Master Scuba Diver rating must have a complete scuba kit appropriate for the specialties they choose. This may include exposure protection, dive lights, reels, surface signaling devices, cutting tools, and other specialty specific equipment.
