Troop 848 Refresher Scuba Program

Eligibility/Overview
This program is only open to Troop 848 Scouts, registered adult leaders, and family members who are already certified divers.
This program includes eLearning and in-water refreshes diver skills for divers certified with any RSTC affiliated agency, including SDI, PADI, SSI, NAUI, PSS, and others. At the end of the program, divers will receive an eCard showing completion of the refresher course.
For this special troop program, divers will join pool and lake sessions alongside those taking the full open water course. As certified divers, there is also an option to just do a quick two-hour pool program separate from the group and still participate in open water dives.
Confined Water Training
Dates: February 19–20
Location: Colleyville, Texas
This weekend focuses on safety, basic scuba skills, and comfort in the water in preparation for open water dives.
The Troop is scheduling who participates in which session.
Open Water Dives
Dates: March 14–15
Location: Balmorhea State Park, Texas
This is a special large group rate that includes eLearning, pool sessions, BCD, regulator, computer, tanks, weights, and air fills.
There will be four open water training dives in open water at the lake.
Personal Gear Requirements
To qualify for the group rate, divers must purchase their mask, snorkel, boots, and fins from OCD Divers. Open Water certification students receive 25% off these four items and should visit the shop to be fitted.
Please do not buy personal gear elsewhere for safety reasons and we will be in a very remote location at Balmorhea. If you are a refreshing diver and already own items, they must fit perfectly and be evaluated by OCD Divers by February 1, 2027.

Parent Information
Parents must fill out a registration form for each diver so we can set up electronic forms and eLearning access. Every participant must have a unique email address, and parents must provide separate contact information.
If available, please include cell phone numbers for both youth and parents. Our automated document system sends forms to both for signatures. Forms expire, and depending on medical responses, may require a doctor’s sign?off before participation.

These courses are non-refundable once purchased because OCD Divers buys eLearning and certification directly from SDI. Spots are heavily discounted and reserved specifically for Troop 848.
