Valhalla Missile Silo Dive Trip – Texas Underground Scuba Adventure

Join OCD Divers for an exclusive drive-and-dive adventure into the historic Valhalla Missile Silo near Abilene, Texas. This Cold War–era Atlas facility offers one of the most unique scuba diving environments in the United States, featuring deep, clear water and a controlled underground setting. Located just 200 miles from DFW Airport, this trip is ideal for divers from Dallas–Fort Worth, West Texas, and surrounding regions.

Admission Fees (per person):

• $200 – Diver
• $120 – Non-diver

Dive Schedule

• Saturday, April 17 – 8 AM to 5 PM
• Sunday, April 18 – 8 AM to Noon

Diver Certification Requirements

• Open Water Diver (limited to 60 ft) – minimum required before travel. Multiple classes are available prior to the trip.
• Inactive Diver Refresh required if you have not been diving within the past year.
• Advanced Diver (limited to 100 ft) – can be completed during this trip.
• Deep Diver (130 ft) – strongly recommended and can be completed during this trip.

Diving Conditions

• Maximum Depth: 130 ft
• Water Temperature: 60°F (5–7mm wetsuit and hood required)
• Air Temperature: Approximately 70°F

Travel, meals, gear, air fills, and accommodations are not included. Divers must dive with a buddy. Enriched Air (Nitrox) is recommended, but tanks are limited. Enriched Air tanks must be ordered by 4/1/26.

Stay Locally or On-Site

• $25/night – Primitive camping (bring your own gear; tents or car camping only; no RVs/trailers)
• $130/weekend – Small RV or trailer camping + $25 per additional person after two. Must arrive Friday between 6–7 PM. No hookups. Limited to three RV spaces.
• $130/night – Queen bed in the silo (Friday or Saturday). One or two people share a bed in a shared space.

Reservations and Payment Schedule

Refund Policy: Because OCD Divers must pre-pay for the property rental, all reservations are non-refundable for any reason, including illness, weather, or choosing not to dive. OCD Divers may cancel reservations for missed payment deadlines; payments already made are non-refundable.

How deep is the Valhalla Missile Silo?

The Valhalla Missile Silo reaches a maximum depth of 130 feet, making it one of the deepest controlled-environment dive sites in Texas.

Is this trip beginner-friendly?

Yes. This trip is open to certified Open Water Divers, making it accessible for newer divers. However, because the silo reaches depths of 130 feet, we strongly recommend completing Advanced Diver and Deep Diver training. Both certifications can be completed on-site during the trip.

What is the water temperature inside the silo?

The water remains around 60°F year-round. A 5–7mm wetsuit and hood are required for comfort and safety.

Can I rent scuba gear for the trip?

Yes. OCD Divers offers full rental packages delivered directly to the dive site, including tanks, wetsuits, regulators, BCDs, and dive lights.

Can non-divers attend the trip?

Yes. Non-divers are welcome and can participate in the optional Atlas missile silo tour or enjoy the surrounding area.

Are lodging options available at the silo?

Yes. Options include primitive camping, limited RV spaces, and queen-bed accommodations inside the silo itself.

Do I need a dive buddy?
