West Texas divers deserve a training experience built for people who want to dive obsessively. OCD Divers provides a modern, flexible path to SDI Open Water certification for Midland, Odessa, Abilene, Big Spring, Sweetwater, San Angelo, and surrounding communities. Our Balmorhea-based certification weekends let you complete all pool training and open water dives in one coordinated weekend, with no weeknight classes and no retail pressure.

Our training model is designed for divers who want more than a basic certification. You receive:

Step One: Sign Up Online

Choose your preferred Balmorhea weekend on the SDI Open Water Diver Certification page.

Step Two: Select Your Gear and Tank Package

Purchase your personal basic gear set from OCD Divers so we can ensure proper fit, safety, and compatibility with the equipment used during training. Select local pickup for delivery to your class. Add tank rental and optional certifications through the Gear and Tank Packages page.

If you want your own wetsuit, you may purchase one through our Wetsuits page.

Step Three: Complete Your Paperwork and SDI eLearning

We send course releasaes through PandaDoc so you can sign everything electronically and set-up your eLearning coursework. You then work through your online academics at your own pace before your training weekend. Most divers complete this in about eight hours total, starting and stopping as time allows.Training is accessible from a computer or the SDI Mobile app.

Step Four: Arrive at Balmorhea for Your Training Weekend

Arrive at Balmorhea State Park by 8:00 AM on both days. Saturday usually runs until about 5:00 PM, and we normally finish around noon on Sunday. You can learn more about the site on our Balmorhea State Park diving information page.

Includes SDI eLearning, instructor time, confined water training, and open water certification dives.

Personal Gear Package: Starting at 149.99
Includes mask, snorkel, fins, and boots if required. This gear must be purchased from OCD Divers so we can ensure proper fit, safety, and compatibility with the equipment used during training. You keep this gear after the course. Options are available on our Gear and Tank Packages page. Wetsuits are available on our Wetsuits page.

Included Life Support Rentals: No additional charge
All Open Water classes include free rental of a BCD, regulators, dive computer, weights, and wetsuit if needed.

Tank Rental for Balmorhea Weekend: 79.99
Includes rental of two tanks for the certification weekend.

If you already dive obsessively, you can join us for any of our scheduled classes on our Calendar. We offer Rescue Diver, underwater photography, river diver training, and more. You can browse all available courses on our Classes page. We also offer refresher sessions during our Balmorhea weekends if you want to get comfortable in the water again. If you do not see the class you want, send us a message and we will add it if we can work it in.

Can I get scuba certified in West Texas without weeknight classes?
Yes. All in water training is completed during one Balmorhea weekend.

Do I need to travel to Colleyville for personal gear purchases pool training?
No. You can pick a package online and we will bring it to your class.All confined water skills and open water dives are completed at Balmorhea.

How long does certification take?
Most divers complete academics before the trip and finish all in water training during one weekend.

Do I need to purchase gear before starting?
Yes. You will need a personal basic gear set purchased from OCD Divers so we can ensure proper fit, safety, and compatibility with the equipment used during training.
