Scuba Discovery Try Scuba in the Pool for Ages 10-99
The SDI Scuba Discovery Program at OCD Divers is the perfect way to experience scuba diving for the first time. This introductory program gives new divers the opportunity to try scuba in a controlled environment while learning essential skills, safety concepts, and how scuba equipment works. Training is conducted in our Colleyville pool with optional lake sessions available.

What You’ll Learn
This program introduces the core skills and knowledge needed to safely experience scuba diving:
- Scuba equipment basics: How to use a BCD, regulator, gauges, and exposure protection.
- Breathing underwater: Learn proper breathing techniques using a regulator.
- Buoyancy and comfort: How to control buoyancy and move efficiently underwater.
- Underwater communication: Standard hand signals and buddy awareness.
- Safety concepts: Equalization, pressure basics, and staying within safe limits.
Program Overview
Scuba Discovery is a non‑certification experience designed to introduce new divers to the underwater world. It is ideal for adults and families who want to try scuba before enrolling in the full Open Water Diver course.
Prerequisites: Basic swimming ability.
Minimum age: 18, or at least 10 years old with parental consent.
Equipment needed: All scuba gear is provided for use during the program. Personal gear (mask, snorkel, boots, fins) is available for purchase if desired.
Where Training Takes Place
All sessions begin in our heated Colleyville pool. Optional lake sessions may be offered for participants who want to experience scuba in an open‑water environment under instructor supervision.
What Happens After Scuba Discovery
Participants who enjoy the experience can easily continue into the SDI Open Water Diver Certification course. Skills learned in Scuba Discovery help make the transition into full certification smooth and confidence‑building.
