SDI Search and Recovery Diver

Course Overview

The SDI Search and Recovery Diver course teaches you how to locate and recover lost objects underwater using proven search patterns, lift techniques, and problem solving skills. You will learn how to evaluate conditions, plan effective searches, and safely use lift bags and reels to bring items to the surface. This course builds confidence, precision, and teamwork in real world scenarios.

Prerequisites

• SDI Open Water Scuba Diver or equivalent
• Minimum age 18
• Minimum age 15 with parental consent

Required Gear

Lift bag, lines, and reels rental are provided by OCD Divers. Divers are encouraged to purchase their own lift bag. A complete scuba kit including mask, snorkel, fins, boots, BCD, regulator set, gauges or computer, exposure protection appropriate for conditions, surface signaling devices, and a cutting tool is required.

Continuing Education

Search and Recovery pairs well with specialties such as Wreck Diver, Night Diver, and Deep Diver. Many divers complete this course as part of their path toward the SDI Master Scuba Diver rating.
