Advanced Buoyancy Diver
The SDI Advanced Buoyancy Diver Course at OCD Divers helps certified divers refine their buoyancy control, improve trim, reduce air consumption, and move more efficiently underwater. This course is ideal for divers who want to enhance their comfort, control, and overall diving performance. Training is offered in our heated Colleyville pool and at local lake sites.

What You’ll Learn
This course focuses on developing precise buoyancy skills through hands-on practice and instructor coaching:
- Perfecting trim and body position: Achieve a stable, streamlined posture underwater.
- Buoyancy control techniques: Hovering, fine-tuning weighting, and controlled ascents and descents.
- Breathing efficiency: Improve air consumption through proper breathing and movement.
- Finning techniques: Frog kick, modified flutter, helicopter turns, and back kick.
- Environmental awareness: Avoiding contact with the bottom and protecting aquatic life.
Program Overview
The Advanced Buoyancy Diver Course is one of the most valuable continuing education programs for divers of all experience levels. Whether you’re newly certified or preparing for advanced training, this course helps you become a more confident, efficient, and environmentally responsible diver.
Prerequisites: Open Water Diver certification from SDI, PADI, SSI, NAUI, PSS, or any other internationally recognized training agency.
Minimum age: 18, or 10 years old with parental consent.
Equipment needed: Standard personal gear and scuba gear. We can provide free rental gear for pool sessions in Colleyville. For lake courses, there is no additional charge to use gear already rented for another class or if this is the only course, please see our continuing education gear page to review options.
Where Training Takes Place
Training sessions are held in our heated Colleyville pool or at local lake sites, depending on scheduling and course goals. Both environments provide excellent opportunities to practice buoyancy skills in real-world conditions.
What Comes Next
After completing the Advanced Buoyancy Diver Course, divers often continue with specialties such as Enriched Air Nitrox, Advanced Adventure Diver, or begin working toward the SDI Master Diver pathway.
