The SDI Digital Underwater Photography Course at OCD Divers teaches you how to capture clear, vibrant underwater images using modern digital cameras. Whether you are brand new to underwater photography or looking to improve your technique, this course helps you understand camera settings, lighting, composition, and how to get the most out of your equipment. You may bring your own camera system or use one of OCD Divers’ cameras during training.

Program Overview
The Digital Underwater Photography Course is ideal for divers who want to document their dives, improve their creative skills, or prepare for travel and advanced imaging. Training includes classroom instruction and optional open water photo dives at The Scuba Ranch or other local sites depending on conditions.
Prerequisites: SDI Open Water Scuba Diver or equivalent.
Minimum age: 18, or 10 with parental consent.
Equipment needed: A digital underwater camera system. Divers may bring their own camera or use OCD Divers’ cameras. A complete scuba kit appropriate for the dive site is required for optional photo dives.
Where Training Takes Place
Classroom and hands‑on camera training take place at OCD Divers. Optional underwater photography dives are conducted at The Scuba Ranch or other local Texas lake locations depending on scheduling and visibility.
Required Gear
Divers must have a complete scuba kit including mask, snorkel, fins, boots, BCD, regulator set, gauges or computer, exposure protection appropriate for conditions, surface signaling devices, and a cutting tool. A digital camera system is required; loaner cameras are available through OCD Divers.

What Comes Next
After completing the Digital Underwater Photography Course, divers often continue with specialties such as Advanced Buoyancy Diver, Night and Limited Visibility Diver, or Underwater Videographer. This specialty also counts toward the SDI Master Scuba Diver pathway.
