The SDI Divemaster Course at OCD Divers is the first step into the professional ranks of scuba diving. This program develops your leadership abilities, expands your diving knowledge, and prepares you to supervise certified divers and assist instructors during training. As an SDI Divemaster, you become a trusted dive leader capable of guiding dives, managing groups, and supporting safe, enjoyable underwater experiences.

What You’ll Learn

This course follows SDI standards and provides the knowledge and skills required to function as a professional dive leader:

Dive leadership: Supervising certified divers, guiding groups, and managing dive site logistics.
Diving science: Advanced diving physics, physiology, and decompression concepts.
Risk management: Safety planning, emergency procedures, and problem‑solving underwater.

Program Overview

The SDI Divemaster Course includes academic development, confined water skill refinement, and extensive open water training. Candidates will complete leadership evaluations, stamina assessments, rescue scenarios, and practical sessions assisting with real student divers. This program prepares you for work in dive centers, on dive boats, and at resorts worldwide.

Prerequisites:

Minimum age 18
SDI Advanced Adventure Diver or equivalent
SDI Rescue Diver or equivalent
Current CPR, First Aid, and Oxygen Provider certifications
Minimum 40 logged dives to begin training (more required for certification)

Where Training Takes Place

Training is conducted at OCD Divers in Colleyville, local Texas lakes, and additional dive locations as needed for leadership evaluations and scenario‑based training. Candidates may also assist with real courses to gain hands‑on professional experience.

Required Gear

Divemaster candidates must have a complete set of personal scuba equipment suitable for local training conditions, including exposure protection, cutting tools, surface signaling devices, and a dive computer. Additional professional‑level gear may be required.
